Johnston ARS (NC)
The Johnston County Amateur Radio Society of North Carolina was founded in 1975.
JARS members have been long-time supporters of the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) as well as AUXComm in and around Johnston County. They have volunteered their expertise and resources with every severe weather event. The member of JARS are now working with local authorities in Johnston County to form a local CERT organization to continue their long history of helping others.
JARS is the home of the JARSCom, a unique ham radio experience which utilizes a retired Johnston County ambulance as a mobile radio command center used during emergencies, displayed at events and hamfests, and utilized for radio contests such as the ARRL Field Day.
JARS is considered the original home for The Ham Badgers, as both founders of the company were members of JARS when they started the business. JARS and it's members were instrumental in supporting us during our early days.
