The Johnston County Amateur Radio Society of North Carolina was founded in 1975.
JARS members have been long-time supporters of the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) as well as AUXComm in and around Johnston County. They have volunteered their expertise and resources with every severe weather event.
JARS is the home of the JARSCom, a unique ham radio experience which utilizes a retired Johnston County ambulance as a mobile radio command center used during emergencies, displayed at events and hamfests, and utilized for radio contests such as the ARRL Field Day.

The Ham Badgers have several badge options available to JARS members.
